Rules & Etiquette
Thanks for
being part of our community. To ensure the best possible
experience for all members, we have established some basic
guidelines for participation.
By joining and using this site, you agree that you have read and will follow the rules and
guidelines set forth here and elsewhere. This is
a great medium with which to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit
from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation.
Questions about IAAP or the website at community.iaap-hq.org should be directed to our Member Services department. Technical questions on association management
issues should directed to our helpdesk.
The following guidelines apply to the entire site; please take a moment to
acquaint yourself with them. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate
membership on all lists for members who violate these rules. If you have
questions, contact the member services department.
- Don't
challenge or attack others. The discussions on the lists are meant to
stimulate conversation not to create contention. Let others have their
say, just as you may.
- Don't post commercial messages anywhere where they are not explicitly permitted. This includes eGroups, blogs, comments and private messages. Under no circumstances is spam or any other sort of advertising
tolerated. This does not apply to legitimate educational chapter or
division events, but does apply to fundraisers and services, such as
proofreading, virtual assistance, etc.
- Discussing non-IAAP products and services is permitted in personal blogs and comments posted on those blog entries, so long as the product/service is of legitimate interest to IAAP members, is not a standalone advertisement and does not conflict with IAAP’s mission and values or significantly replicate IAAP’s business model (in part or in whole) or any of the Association’s programs.) Any content that does not adhere to this guideline will be considered spam.
- Chapter
or division events should be promoted in their respective chapter or
division eGroups as well as the Educational Seminars eGroup. Please do
not post these in the General IAAP Discussion eGroup or other International eGroups; they will be
removed.
- Use caution when discussing
products. Information posted on the lists is available for all to see,
and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
- All
defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal
materials are strictly prohibited. Do not post anything in a eGroup
message that you would not want the world to see or that you would not
want anyone to know came from you.
- Please note carefully all
items listed in the disclaimer and legal rules below, particularly
regarding the copyright ownership of information posted to the list.
- Remember that community.iaap-hq.org and other e-mail list participants have the right to reproduce postings to this eGroup.
- Send your message only to the most appropriate list(s). Do not spam several lists with the same message.
All messages should add to the body of knowledge.
- We reserve the right to reject any message for any reason.

editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any
inappropriate posting is brought to our attention, we will take all appropriate action.
